FAQ’s

What is your style?

I get asked all the time how I’d describe my style of wedding photography.  Picking your wedding photographer can seem overwhelming, there are lots of photographic styles, different packages and prices.  Your wedding photographs are all that will be left when the celebration is over.  I think it’s important that when you’re choosing your wedding photographer you have an idea of whether you want someone more candid or formal, who photographs in a light and airy or darker more gritty style.

I’m a storyteller.  I’d say my style is a mix of documentary and capturing the candid moments and some beautiful portraits that you’d be proud to have in a frame on your living room wall!  I’m happy to photograph formal family photographs too, I will ask for a list ahead of the wedding and do these photographs quickly but with fun so I don’t waste precious mingling time with your guests.  I will aim to capture all the joy, colour and expression of your big day.

The main thing you need to know is that I’ll put anyone at ease, I’ll make an effort with your guests and I’ll be there for all the important moments.  I always chat with my couples ahead of the wedding to go over the details, so I know exactly when, where and what.

Will you visit the venue beforehand?

No.  As you can imagine I have photographed at lots of lovely venues and every year I meet new ones!  I don’t like to predetermine what a wedding should look like before it’s even started, trust me in the knowledge I can turn up anywhere and make it look good!  I will ask to meet with you around a month before the wedding and if I’m unfamiliar with the venue, you can tell me all about what you love about it and if you have any specific locations you would like for photographs.  This gives me the opportunity to discuss locations for photography and to understand how your wedding day will run.  I like to be fully briefed about timings, who the key people are, and any specific photographic requirements you may have in good time before the wedding.

Are you insured?

Yes! I have full public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance.  I also have spare equipment in the car just in case!

How many photographs will we receive?

After each wedding, I process and edit your images.  If the wedding is full day coverage from bridal preparations until first dance most couples get between 300-500 final images.  For shorter weddings, the number of images supplied is likely to be less, and in proportion depending on the time we are present.

When do we pay?

To secure the date a £200 booking fee will be required.  Dates will be reserved only when this booking fee is paid.  Full details on following payments can be found on my Terms and Conditions.

How long after the wedding do we have to wait for the images?

My aim is to send you a password protected online gallery of your finished images within four weeks of your big day.  During peak wedding season, this might take around 4-6 weeks but I would keep you posted after the wedding should it be a little longer.

Can I have the copyright of the photographs?

No.  I retain the copyright to the images but provide you with a license to print, copy and share.  When I meet with the bride and groom a month before the wedding, one of the questions I will ask is may I use the images on my website, Facebook, albums etc.  I will not share your images unless you are happy for me to do so.

Can I request photographs?

I will try to provide you with any photographs requested and agreed in advance.  I cannot be held responsible for the lack of coverage caused by factors outside our control, for example, bad weather, insufficient time allowed in the schedule or the bride, groom or wedding party being late.

Do you want us to provide you with a meal at the wedding?

During the time you are eating, we will take a break.  We love to get fed at weddings, however, it is not necessary for you to provide us with a meal.

What if I don’t like my photo taken?

This is normal, don’t worry. Most couples don’t really like having their photo taken.  I can give you some hints and tips before the day.  It’s my job to help you feel comfortable in front of the camera 🙂  I offer engagement shoots for an extra charge.  These usually last a couple of hours and include the edited photographs and a signing book for the wedding day.  These should be arranged within good time of the wedding to allow processing and ordering of products. Please contact me for prices on this.

Photographs of previous engagement shoots and the signing books can be seen here –

How long does it take to get the album created?

After you received your fully edited online gallery, I will get bust designing your album.  I usually get an initial design over to you on email, then you can make any changes.  You might want to swap photographs or change the layout to add additional photographs.  The album doesn’t go to print until you are happy with the selection of photographs.  Depending on the time of year you get married, album designing might take me a little while.  If I’m busy photographing weddings during peak season, wedding editing has to take first priority.  Once you’ve approved the album designing, production and delivery takes around 7-10 working days.
